Five: Virginia Beach Boudoir Photographer

As I looked down at my phone I let out a sudden gasp. Not because I was still awake and it was 4am. That’s not unusual for me.

Instead, I gasped because a quick glance revealed a date that has marked the anniversary of what I consider one of my greatest achievements.

February 19th was once a nondescript date that held absolutely no importance to me.

Five years ago I unwittingly tread on a path that would forever change the way I see and interact with the world and the beautiful people in it.

If you would have told the 19 year old LeZandra that she would be here in five years she would have laughed at you. She had a plan. A plan that she would not have ever deviated from. She was very stubborn (okay, she still is) and often insecure. She had not found her voice. She did not know who she was. If you would have told me that at 24 I would be a mother, have a house in Virginia, and own a gorgeous photography studio she would have pointed you to the nearest therapist because you have obviously lost your mind.

Over the last five years I have met some of the most amazing people. I have been able to laugh with, cry with, and create one of the most intimate treasures a person can have of themselves. These women have beautiful souls and the fact that they have allowed me into their lives has been one of the greatest feelings. These women are strong, bold, and passionate. They are doctors, lawyers, and artists. They are military service members. They are firefighters. They are nurses. They are teachers. They are mothers and lovers. They are sisters and daughters. They are everyday women who make this world a better place because they exist with hearts burning with a passion for life and a deep love for those around them.

Boudie Biz Basics: Hampton Roads Boudoir Q&A

I receive a lot of emails from other photographers about boudoir. Most people are going in to their first session and are either feeling lost or scared or hundreds of other emotions that all lead them to seek help. A lot of them are overwhelmed by the business side of things and wanting advice on how to grow their business.

When I say that I live and breathe boudoir, I’m not kidding.

I am pretty much obsessed with this growing genre of photography.

I am extremely passionate about boudoir. It is far more than photographing an individual in a state of undress. It is far more than showing somebody how beautiful they are.

Boudoir is about allowing somebody to be vulnerable, powerful, and brazen.

Each client that walks through the doors of my studio comes in nervous but with the knowledge that they are entering into a safe haven where there are no apologies and no judgement.

I have cried with my clients. I have jumped up and down with my clients. And I have loved my clients so deeply.

We as photographers have a great responsibility to those who step in front of our lens.

Boudie Biz Basics is for those who are new to boudoir or looking to grow their boudoir business.

BBB is a loose Q&A style information session where no question is off limits!

Miss S: Virginia Beach Boudoir Photographer

Miss S has a smile that is infectious and a bubbly personality that will instantly brighten up your day!

She is a mother with one on the way (yay!!!) and wanted to have her session to restore her confidence.

As women we give. A lot. We give to our partners. We give to our jobs. We give to our families.

At the end of the day, we need to do something for ourselves.

Make yourself a priority. Make it a point to indulge. Love yourself for the woman that you are because everything you have gone through in life has brought you to this point.

Miss S serves our country, she is one amazing mama, and she brought the biggest smile to my face. Her session was filled with a ton of laughs and her images were the perfect way to celebrate a huge weight loss journey (50lbs down, woohoo!!!) and feel sexy again.

Thank you, Miss S, for sharing this experience with me!

Miss S: Virginia Beach Boudoir Photographer

I love Miss S.

I have had the pleasure of photographing this gorgeous woman three (almost four, but she went into labor) times and each session is more and more special!

Miss S wanted to celebrate her new body after having children. She wanted to embrace her sexuality. And she wanted to break out of her comfort zone.

Her session was originally going to be a white sheet session. However, shortly after shooting we decided to ditch the white sheet and do more nude shots.

I could not be happier with the results!

Miss S posted a few words about her session in our private boudoir facebook group and I love her even more for it!

“I was nervous for every session…for the first 5 minutes, then I felt GREAT. Lezandra and her team have this amazing way of making you feel like the most beautiful woman in the world and feel so confident in what you’re doing. When the dolling up is over and it’s just you and Lezandra it’s the best feeling. She just goes at it, helping you pose in attractive ways that may feel funny but that little peek on the display screen reminds you that she’s the professional you making you look the VERY BEST possible. I loved it. If I had unlimited funds, I’d probably have seen her twice as many times.”

One thing she said that stuck with me was that she was so much more comfortable doing a nude series than one with clothes. She didn’t have to worry about outfits bunching, or how her body looked in an outfit. It was more raw and powerful.

I love Miss S and these images and I cannot wait for her to come back this year so we can create something even more amazing!

Wear This, Not That: Virginia Beach Boudoir Photographer

Finding outfits for your boudoir session doesn’t have to be tricky.

The key to a successful session is finding outfits that flatter your figure and fit correctly.

I cannot stress the importance of a proper fit enough!

I was inspired to do this series by my friend Leslie at Lavish Boudoir!

Now presenting, Wear This, Not That!

Wear this, not that. Boudoir What to Wear

Outfits from Victoria Secret.

One thing I hear the most about concerns when shopping for boudoir outfits are tummy worries.

As a mom, I can totally sympathize!

However, most people feel the need to hide their mid-section with something flowy versus something fitted.

I’m going to tell you right now: STOP!

Flowy outfits actually do more harm than good!

An outfit that is flowy adds bulk and does nothing to define your shape.

They typically do not have a lot of support up top, which is definitely necessary when you are more busty.

Finding an outfit that is form fitted will offer support throughout the outfit.

Outfits with boning create lines and add shape.

Fitted outfits define your waist and create the illusion of a longer torso.

Stay tuned for next weeks Wear This, Not That!

Miss K: Virginia Beach Boudoir Photographer

When we step outside of the confines of what make us feel safe and enter into the unknown we never know what we may find.

Miss K was nervous.

In 2015 she resolved to have a boudoir session so that she could push herself out of her comfort zone.

She is at a defining moment of her life where she is rediscovering who she is free of any outside influences.

Miss K and I were left with aching cheeks from all of the smiling done during her Unveiling because she was shocked. She saw herself as the sexy and confident woman that is buried under the uniform that she puts on every day.

Throughout her session she kept exclaiming “that’s not me!”.

Yes, K, it is totally you.

Great things never come from comfort zones.

I hope this experience was the perfect way to jump start a year of confidence, boldness, and adventure.

Misa: Virginia Beach Bridal Boudoir Photographer

It’s an amazing feeling when something you have dreamed of comes together so perfectly.

I had been organizing this session since last July, but something always seemed to put a hold on my plans.

First we had an issue with the weather, then the two models we had lined up fell through…It seemed as though I would never be able to do something I had invested so much into.

They say that the third time’s a charm. It most certainly was.

Misa is such a beautiful woman! She is an amazing artist and a newer model who has so much promise!

With spring right around the corner I wanted to do a floral themed bridal boudoir session.

Here is a little teaser of our session!

Model: Misa Edwards

Makeup: Carly Vega of Makeup by Vega

Hair: Markia Robinson of Markia Nicole

Flowers: Whole Foods Virginia Beach

Photography, Styling, Flower Crown, and Flower Wall: LeZandra Persinger
